The hotel stands on the former site of Cervino Ski School and it was, in actual fact, the ski instructors who built it. Knuckling down, they first built a guesthouse and then a complete working hotel. While staying there, remember you’re treading on a century of history! Makes you tremble, doesn’t it? And not just from the cold!
But let’s get back to us. What happened after that?
It was the year 2000 and the Maquignaz siblings (a ski instructor and an alpine guide, of course), decided to purchase the entire property. Very soon, a bar, two sportswear shops and a ski rental opened next-door to our beloved hotel.
And surprise, surprise, after so long, the two Maquignaz siblings are still running the hotel: Lorette and Giancarlo – in other words, us! We’re young and enterprising, love nature, outdoor activities, ski touring. We’re following in our parents’ footsteps and sport runs in our blood. Who could give you better advice on how to spend the perfect holiday in Cervinia?

THE CROSS OF THE MATTERHORN
To the east of the hotel there’s a copy of the cross standing on the peak of the Matterhorn which was blessed in 2012. It’s the same as the original, the only difference is that you don’t have to climb the mountain to see it! The idea to make a copy of the Matterhorn Cross was the dream nurtured by our uncle – Faustino Maquignaz.
